Job Opportunity: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

If you’re still looking for a job, here’s an opportunity to work for the federal government! Their student programs allow students to work while in school and can later be converted into a full-time position. It is a great way to get some experience working for an engineering company, make some decent money to help with college expenses, and have it lead to a potential permanent position. The deadline to apply is July 10!

Accenture Grace Hopper Scholarship

As part of their continued commitment to advancing women in technology, Accenture is awarding ten student scholarships to attend the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing event in Orlando, October 4 – 6! This amazing opportunity includes a pass to the conference, airfare, hotel accommodations, daily meal stipend, an interview for a full-time role or internship, and a spotlight as a social media ambassador!  The deadline for this scholarship is Monday, July 10th at 5:00 pm EDT and you can apply here. Google: Summer Activities and Programs

This summer, Google is offering some rewarding opportunities to those who wish to make their summer a productive one!

  • #StudentServe: In June, Googlers will join together to give back in their local communities as part of the 10th annual “GoogleServe.” A flier is attached and here is a video that shares a few ideas for and information on what you can do to benefit your community. Share your stories of service in #StudentServe:
  1. Spend time volunteering and take photos (selfies? why not ;))

  2. Share them by tagging @googlestudents
    using #StudentServe (don’t forget to include your location and how you gave back)

  • The Actions Challenge: Calling all Computer Science and Engineering students, or those who want to develop and showcase their app-building skills! This summer, you can build an app for the Google Assistant on Google Home, Android devices, and the iPhone. Enter your app for approval by August 31st to be eligible for more than 20 prizes, including a trip to Google I/O in 2018! Find entry info and contest guidelines here

Ice Cream Social for Prospective Grad Students

Are you interested in graduate school? Head to the Graduate Diversity program’s 4th Annual Ice Cream Social on July 7th, 2017! There you will meet graduate students and faculty, learn how to apply to grad programs, and gather resources! In addition to the ice cream social, there will be a resource fair, workshop, lunch with grad students, and a campus tour. For more information, please visit the event info page!

Georgy Barley Water Prize

For those interested in exposing the impact of phosphorous pollution in water, you can take part in this opportunity to win cash prizes! The Everglades Foundation is awarding prizes for those capable of developing a cost-effective process for recovering phosphorus while yielding clean water from natural water bodies. Stage 2 and the Pilot Stage of this program is still available for application, so visit the George Barley Water Prize website to learn more and apply! Affordable LSAT and GRE Prep Courses

Are you interested in attending grad school, but can’t afford the high prices for LSAT or GRE preparatory classes? The UC Davis Psychology and Law School departments are offering high-quality classes at a cheaper price. 24 hours of live prep service for the GRE costs $295.00 ($195.00 for those who qualify for need-based aid), and 27 hours of service for the LSAT costs $328.00($195-$215 for need-based aid). These courses are taught by qualified instructors and are offered to UC Davis and non-UC Davis students. Contact for any questions and apply at!
